History

Hudson was initially a suburb of neighboring city Marlborough, Massachusetts before its incorporation in 1866. It was then known as Feltonville and, earlier, as Eastborough. From the mid-1800s through the mid-1900s, Hudson was home to numerous shoe factories (initially powered by the Assabet River; later by electricity from Hudson Power and Light), which attracted immigrants from Ireland, Portugal, and other European countries.
